隨著我國汽車工業(yè)和汽車服務業(yè)的迅速發(fā)展，使得汽車廠商與服務商對高素質的汽車從業(yè)人員的需求變得更為迫切。這種背景下，為了提高從業(yè)人員的專業(yè)素養(yǎng)，增加他們對國外先進技術的認知和吸收能力，有必要組織一套便于學習、反映國外先進技術的專業(yè)英語教材，以期能夠在課時不多的情況下，快速提高學生的專業(yè)英語素養(yǎng)，達到能夠消化與吸收英文專業(yè)文獻的目的。

本書結合汽車專業(yè)英語的教學經(jīng)驗，注重培養(yǎng)學生的綜合能力；內(nèi)容主要選自國內(nèi)外知名教材、權威網(wǎng)站，力求反映當今主要汽車的新結構、新技術；注重信息的篩選，深度適宜，篇幅符合大多數(shù)高等院校的教學要求；由淺入深，循序漸進，符合認知規(guī)律，便于學習；條理清晰，文字規(guī)范，語言流暢，圖文結合，便于理解。本書主要特點如下：

1．專業(yè)方向明確，針對性強。面向汽車類相關專業(yè)，考慮汽車類相關專業(yè)的培養(yǎng)目標，注重汽車技術闡述的同時，將汽車維護、營銷、保險等汽車售后市場的服務性專業(yè)文獻納入教材，符合汽車類專業(yè)學生就業(yè)知識結構拓展的要求，使畢業(yè)生不再局限于僅僅了解一些專業(yè)術語，而是能夠從容面對工作中的專業(yè)英語所需，不再恐懼外語專業(yè)文獻。國內(nèi)高校汽車類專業(yè)英語課程的課時安排從24學時到50學時不等，各高校可根據(jù)實際情況酌情選用。

2．內(nèi)容安排合理，便于教師和學生選擇學習與閱讀。教材前部分內(nèi)容重點講述汽車構造與理論，以及當今先進汽車技術的闡述；后部分內(nèi)容重點講述汽車維護，汽車營銷，汽車保險以及汽車評估等內(nèi)容，基本涵蓋汽車類專業(yè)畢業(yè)生的大多數(shù)就業(yè)方向，便于針對學生的專業(yè)方向進行選用。

3．內(nèi)容新穎，譯注準確。教材內(nèi)容選自國內(nèi)外知名教材，權威網(wǎng)站的最新英文科技資料，既有汽車專業(yè)的基本概念、結構和技術，又有一些汽車專業(yè)領域的最新成果，具有一定的技術領先性。提供的參考譯文和注釋全部經(jīng)專業(yè)老師審閱修改，翻譯準確，專業(yè)術語規(guī)范。課文的參考譯文請從中國水利水電出版社網(wǎng)站下載使用，并歡迎使用者與我們聯(lián)系，進行交流，以便共同提高教學質量。

4．每篇課文提供相關的專業(yè)背景資料，便于課文內(nèi)容的理解。每課之后提供一篇與課文內(nèi)容相關的專業(yè)文獻，作為泛讀內(nèi)容以供選擇，增大了信息量的涵蓋性，彌補了以往此類教材信息量較少的不足。

本書由山東交通學院吳芷紅任主編，山東交通技術學院李新雷與山東交通職業(yè)學院紀世才任副主編，參編人員有山東聯(lián)合大學王玉嶺、周曉飛與煙臺職業(yè)學院劉靜靜、魯哲、于莎莎等。
